Buku ini memiliki relasi erat dengan Memahami Film: Pengantar Naratif yang juga merupakan update dari edisi kedua, yang terfokus pada aspek naratif (penceritaan). Fokus bahasan buku ini adalah aspek sinematik dan beragam hal yang terkait dengan eksplorasi teknis.
